Who Am I

“Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results.”

I once took a short creative writing course and we were asked to describe ourselves in one short sentence. I puzzled over that for days and by the time for next week’s class came, I still had no idea how to describe myself in so few words. As I was walking up the stairs it suddenly came to me;

I am a man of many contradictions.

Images From Ballarat

Ballarat is one of the most significant Victorian era boomtowns in Australia. Gold was discovered at Poverty Point on 18 August 1851, and the district was found to be a rich alluvial field where gold could easily be extracted. News of the finds intensified the Victorian gold rush bringing over 10,000migrants to the city from around the world within a year and transforming it from a station to a major settlement in the newly proclaimed Colony of Victoria. Australia’s first gold stamp mill was established at Ballarat in 1854.

The Victim

As you go through life your bound to come across one of the most annoying personalities there is, “The Victim”.

The Victim is the type of person who, no matter what, and no matter how, will always portray themselves as………… “The Victim”  They are always in the right, life’s been hard and they don’t have a positive bone in their body.

I’ll Remember

I was in my twenties and full of fire, anger, frustration and testosterone.   Fortunately for me, the Army had seen a way to channel this into something positive, well for them anyway, yet every weekend I was out getting into mischief and, I’m ashamed to say it, fights.

I was a wild one for sure and without any real outlet for the mountains of emotions that would surely engulf me one day; I was like a coiled spring.  How funny it is that meeting one woman who I fell deeply and completely in love with would not only change me, but my life and the way I looked at it.

English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5– year phase-in plan that would become known as “Euro-English”.

As I See It

It was an unusually dark night even with the multitude of city lights casting their glow over the river. I stood there looking down from the bridge, mesmerised by the reflections given off by the river below.….

There’s an access to one of the pylons with a platform and a small café, the café of course was closed at this late hour. I noticed a over figure sitting on the platform, legs dangling head down, I couldn’t see if it was male or female. I noticed the figure start to tear something up and then throw it into the river and then with one final look the figure moved onto and up the stairs out of my site.

Tazers:- Don’t Do This At Home

Every so often I come across something that causes involuntary spasms called laughter and this one here still have me drying my eyes and holding my belly. Kids don’t do this at home.

Dear Friends,

My wife Toni is fond of saying that my last words on this earth will be something akin to, “hey y’all, hold my beer and watch this!” Well, I have outdone myself once again. No doubt you will see this true story chronicled in a LifeTime movie in the near future. Here goes.

Last weekend I spied something at Larry’s Pistol and Pawn that tickled my fancy. (Note: Keep in mind that my “fancy” is easily tickled). I bought something really cool for Toni. The occasion was our 22nd anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my sweet girl. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Tazer gun with a clip. For those of you who are not familiar with this product, it is a less-than-lethal stun gun with two metal prongs designed to incapacitate an assailant with a shock of high-voltage, low amperage electricity while you flee to safety. The effects are supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, but allowing you adequate time to retreat to safety. You simply jab the prongs into your 250 lb. Tattooed assailant, push the button, and it will render him a slobbering, goggle-eyed, muscle-twitching, whimpering, pencil-neck geek. If you’ve never seen one of these things in action, then you’re truly missing out—way too cool!
